New Sunday market opens in Troy

TROY – A new market showcasing local handmade goods and food will open Sunday at the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market winter location in Lansingburgh and will run every Sunday through March 28.

The Marketplace is a joint effort by Make It Up State in partnership with the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market in the former Price Chopper store at 865 Second Ave.

“Some vendors are well-known in the local market community while others are new to the scene,” Erin Pihlaja, co-owner and co-founder of Make It Up State, said in a statement.

“Puckers Pickles, Bard and Baker Board Game Cafe, Good Day Honey, Collar City Candle, Saratoga Peanut Butter Company, Rare Form Brewing, we’ve got a lot of well-known brands,” Pihlaja continued.

The Marketplace will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays featuring more than 50 local artisans and food vendors.  The lineup will vary from week to week with new vendors being considered.

“Partnering with the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market is very exciting because they have over 20 years of experience running a high-quality event, and now we get to introduce new vendors who create goods that cannot be found anywhere else,” said Lynette Tarrats, Make It Up State co-owner and co-founder.

The Sunday market will follow the COVID-19 safety protocols that the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market uses for its weekly Saturday market.  This includes wearing a mask while inside, socially distanced shopping and vending, and controlling the number of people inside at any given time.
