Troy farmers market expands with additional vendors [Times Union]

For the 20th outdoor season at the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market, which starts next weekend (May 4), the market has added 15 vendors, bringing the total to more than 110.
The market also will extend its footprint farther south on River Street, past Monument Square, in a move that addresses a longtime complaint of lower River Street shops, which felt cut off from the market and that the market prevented customer vehicle access on Saturdays.
Among the new vendors are Bonticou Ducks, with heritage poultry and meats; Two Rock Ranch, with White Dorper sheep; Bee Hollow Farm, with honey; 1857 spirits, with potato vodka; and Fifth Tier Baking Studio, with pastries and confections.
The market is celebrating 20 years since its founding with only 20 vendors, five of which remain vendors today: Bornt Family Farm of Pittstown, Saratoga Apple of Schuylerville, Wells Maple Farm of Nassau, Our Farm of Greenwich, and Sweet Tree Farm of Carlisle.
In other news from the market, Troy YMCA will begin a new Healthy Family Zone during outdoor market hours on the Riverfront Plaza Staircase on River Street north of Monument Square. The plaza is recognizable for its colorful painted "TROY" logo on the southern wall. Programs will focus on healthy activities that children and their families can participate in together.
Starting May 4, the outdoor farmers market will be held on River Street along and past Monument Square and around the square. The final indoor market, in the Troy Atrium, is this weekend (4/27). Hours for both are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
