Sean McLaughlin: The Ecstatic Radiant Joy of Fish & Waffles
The Artist
Sean McLaughlin (b.1988 New Jersey) is a painter and mural artist based in Albany, New York. His work includes bold compositions combining elements of the natural world, mystic icons and celebratory colors, alongside lively, cartoon-inspired figures. In addition to his painting practice, McLaughlin is heavily involved in community creative learning and has led several mural projects with children and created the curriculum for workshop programs for young people.
The Mural
My idea was to highlight the vendors in the space I was given which just so happened to be above a fish vendor and waffle stand. I really loved the juxtaposition of these unlikely neighbors and created this mural to celebrate them.
