The Artist

I am 19-year-old artist studying illustration at Parsons School of Design. I started off with my focus on portraiture, and have since morphed it into my own style. I try to have fun with my art, not taking myself too seriously in the sense that every piece has to have a deeper meaning, which is an idea that is often forced in the professional art world. I got quite burnt out doing full portraits, and giving myself a break to breathe and truly get back into enjoying the process of creating art has proven to be a fun and exciting change for myself. I am currently building my own path in the art world, trying to make my way the best I can during these crazy times.

The Mural

When I was asked to paint this mural for La Capital Tacos, I was given pretty much full artistic freedom to do what I wanted. The owner of the business has expressed to me that he wants me to do what I think is cool, and that he appreciates the uniqueness of my art. I wanted to bring a more goofy take on a mural to the farmers market, adding hand drawn collage elements that can be taken as either creepy or laughable (depends on the person!)

I decided to participate in this project since my former coworker, now restaurant owner, Yair had asked me to paint for his taco stand. It was an amazing opportunity and I have met so many interesting and unique people during my time spent at the market. I would love to take on more projects such as this, and getting to know a range of people on a more local level has been incredible.
