Ferdbot (Chip Fasciana): "Perseverance III"

The Artist

Ferdbot (Chip Fasciana) is an artist who splits his time between Albany/Troy New York and San Diego, California. He has painted a wide variety of public murals in both regions. He is a painter and Sculptor as well as a Musician and Curator. He works almost exclusively with Upcycled materials. Several years ago Fasciana directed and curated the critically acclaimed Albany Underground Artists, who hosted Guerrilla Art Shows in Elaborate vacant buildings. The success with this group led Chip to exhibiting his work extensively in New York City and eventually London UK, where he was represented in Europe, Asia and The Middle East for several years. He has won a variety of awards including Artist of the Year from Albany Center Galleries as well as Masterpiece Award from the Albany Institute of History and Art. He recently completed a 1500 sf public mural (Perseverance) in Troy, NY (15 Middleburgh St) and is slated to do a large public mural this Spring in Albany, NY. He continually paints commissions and sells his paintings to private collectors.

The Mural

I painted the Troy Market mural with all reclaimed materials as I do with almost all of my work. The owl represents Perseverance, which is a theme I have been repeating with my public art in Troy. Perseverance is reflective of the iconic Troy Waterfront Farmers Market which I have been blessed to be going to for years. The farmers who provide the delicious and nutritious food we enjoy have to persevere through thick and thin to provide us. The market itself has had to persevere with their eternal challenges. My mural is an homage to the market and the farmers and crafters/artists/chefs, etc who work so hard for us. The hummingbird represents Joy. It is pollinating the Troy logo to inject joyfulness. Lastly, I made the mural to be used as a moveable Sign as well....something the market can move with them as an advertisement for themselves.
